Charge using USB in wall power socket with U-Socket USB Wallplug

A lot of devices today require a USB port to charge it on and some examples are the iPhone, Blackberry, a few HTC phones and a lot more. Have you ever imagine the simplicity of just plugging in a USB cable to a power socket on the wall? Or have you imagined a dedicated USB port on the power socket for the sole purpose of charging the mobile devices? If you have, then we got the answer for you and that is with the U-Socket USB Wallplug!

At a price of $24.99 for each wallplug, the U-Socket USB Wallplug has two USB ports and two power sockets. However, right now these ports are available only to the US and Canada simply because it uses the US standard 110V instead of 220V which is more common in other countries.
One of the advantages of this wallplug is that there will be no need of using an extension socket to charge the phone because there is already a dedicated USB port. The other is that it helps whenever you lost the cradle and have to rely on your computer to charge it. In addition to that, it also sports a 2.1Amps for each connector meaning that you would have the fast charge capability for your devices as well, much like a normal cradle.

Apple iPhone 4 : A Review

The new 4th generation iPhone from Apple is another breakthrough in mobile technology. It features the same A4 processor as the iPad, and with the improved power management can handle up to 10 hours of Wi-Fi browsing, 7 hours 3G talk time, 40 hours of music playing, or 300 hours standby time. The design has been updated as well to a more industrial look, while also making it thinner and smaller than the current model.

Apple has also included 802.11n wifi, assisted GPS, bluetooth, 32GB flash storage, accelerometer, compass, gyroscope, and the list goes on. As Jobs mentioned in his announcement the six-axis gyroscope should be useful for game developers to use in ushering in new types of mobile games for the iPhone.
A much needed improvement is the camera, which has been upgraded to 5MP with an LED flash that can also be used as a flashlight while filming videos. While 5MP isn’t as much resolution as the new HTC phones have, it also includes a backside-illumination sensor which results in much better photos, especially in low-light conditions.
camera

The camera is also capable of recording HD 720p video at 30 frames per second and comes with built in movie editing software for editing and uploading directly to the internet, though most users will probably want to buy the $4.99 iMovie app which features much more robust editing features than the built-in software.
Probably the biggest development in the new iPhone is the “retina display”, so called because the pixels are so small that you’re eye can’t see them from more than a couple of inches away. The pixel density is 326 pixels per inch, and on a 3.5 inch display results in 960 x 640 resolution and more than 4 times the pixel density of the 3GS. Here is an example of the old 3GS display and the iPhone 4G zoomed in:

res

Apple now holds the record for the most pixels per inch on a mobile display but even so it’s still a close call between the new iPhone screen and an AMOLED screen, such as on the Samsung Galaxy S.
Of course with the new iPhone comes a new OS, now called simply iOS 4 (”phone” was dropped because it’s also used on the iPad). The new update allows several new features including a form of multitasking, folders, and sever hundred other small updates.
Video calling is supported on the new iPhone with an app called FaceTime, and it works very well. The only snag is that it currently only works on WiFi networks due to bandwidth constraints, and only between 2 people with the new iPhone. Jobs says that he’s working with mobile operators to make FaceTime available over 3G networks soon, which will actually make it a useful app instead of a novelty.
The new iPhone is currently available for $199 from AT&T with a 2 year agreement and current owners of iPhones can upgrade even if they’re current 2 year upgrade time limit hasn’t run up.

Apple reaches deal with stores that sell fake goods

Apple has reached a deal with two New York stores that have reportedly been selling fake goods. Once agreed by the courts, the stores will have five days to hand over any fake Apple products.

Two computer stores in New York that have reportedly been selling fake Apple products have agreed to a deal which will see them hand over any fake goods to the Cupertino company.
The proposal was submitted to a federal court in Brooklyn on Thursday and concerned two stores in Queens – Apple Story and FunZone.
Once the agreement has been approved by the court, the stores will have five days to hand over all the fake goods.
The deal stipulates that “the parties shall work together to identify the documents and things to deliver,” so the image of Apple employees digging through the stores’ dark and dusty stockrooms with flashlights in hand may not be too far-fetched.
According to the computer giant’s original court filing on the matter last month, representatives from Apple went along to Apple Story and Fun Zone on more than one occasion and bought a variety of fake Apple items. These included iPhone cases and headsets bearing the Apple logo. Apple prohibits the selling of unauthorized items, such as cases, that show the Apple logo.
Several of the items even had “Designed by Apple in California. Assembled in China” printed on them – words which are found on many genuine Apple products. Apple also pointed out that the packaging of some of the items in the stores was almost identical to the packaging of genuine Apple products.
The original trademark infringement filing targeting stores like Apple Story and FunZone was made by Apple in a New York court last month. this came at around the same time that fake Apple Stores in China were also being brought to the company’s attention. And when we say fake Apple Store, we mean the entire store was fake. The stores, many of which have since been ordered to close by Chinese officials, had been so carefully designed that many consumers thought they’d been shopping in one of Apple’s genuine outlets. It was even reported that some of the employees believed they were working for the computer giant.

Highlighters and USB Drives: Perfect Match

If you work in an office setting, then you probably use a lot of highlighters and USB Flash drives. As with all great inventions, someone eventually gets smart and decides to combine two great things together, and the result in this case is the High Dexx USB Flash Drive.

Three highlighters in blue, yellow, and green combine with an orange one that is actually a USB Flash Drive. The orange guy can plug into the stand, and this stand plugs right into the computer.
You might ask yourself why the stand needs to plug into the computer when USB flash drives like the one in the picture can do that anyway. I have only one thing to say to that: that is a very good question.
As far as memory is concerned on the odd-man out orange guy, it is available in 128 MB, 256 MB, 512 MB, 1 GB, and 2 GB capacity.

This High Dexx USB Flash Drive has the potential to become one of those office supplies that everyone covets, like the red stapler from Office Space. This is one of those items that is intended to be a promotional type of giveaway thing. Some have used personalized highlighters and flash drives from companies before, and usually ended up losing them. This one would probably make certain that you will not lose your flash drives or highlighters. You will surely love them.

AMD will bring new chip at quad-core laptops

Advanced Micro Devices will bring quad-core processing and powerful graphics silicon to mainstream laptops.Introduced on Tuesday, the HP Pavilion dv4 is one of 11 new laptop models that use the 'Llano' AMD chips.

On Tuesday, AMD is announcing the Fusion A-Series chips for mainstream consumer notebooks as well as desktops. AMD's Fusion technology puts all of a PC's computational power on one piece of silicon--what AMD calls an APU or accelerated processing unit. Chips will be offered with both two and four processor cores.

For quad-core systems, the trick is to reduce the power consumption of traditional desktop-class processing to levels that are usable for laptops. "What used to be accomplished in 85 watts or so [of power consumption]. That same class of performance--quad-core combined with discrete-level graphics--will now be accomplished in about half the power that it used to take in a traditional system," said Raymond Dumbeck, a marketing executive handling AMD's mobile computing, in an interview.

Discrete graphics refers to high-performance standalone chips that typically come on a separate card. AMD claims that it can achieve that kind of performance without a separate card.
They are putting equal emphasis on graphics and standard "x86" (Intel-compatible) processing, according to Dumbeck. Traditionally, PCs tended to emphasize x86 processing over graphics. "We've allocated about a third [of the chip] to x86 and a third to graphics," he said. AMD, which acquired graphics chip giant ATI in 2006, is doing this to take advantage of programming trends at Apple and Microsoft, who are increasingly writing software to take advantage of the graphics chip. Microsoft calls its tech Direct X, Apple uses OpenCL.

Intel is following a similar path. It is grafting increasingly higher-performance graphics silicon onto its main processors. This trend began in earnest with Intel's Sandy Bridge processors and will continue with its next generation of Ivy Bridge chips.
Dumbeck also described how a quad-core processor can dynamically adjust to different processing scenarios. "Software either takes advantage of frequency (speed) or cores. If the software is frequency dependent, you'll slow down the back two cores and boost the front two cores, increasing frequency. Or if the software is core dependent, you'll normalize across all four cores, having more cores available for core-dependent software," he said.

The problem is that more cores don't always translate to better performance, as review site Anandtech points out in its analysis of the new processors. "Even in heavily-threaded benchmarks where quad-core CPUs can shine, dual-core [Intel] i5 processors are still typically 30% faster than the A8-3500M. Instead of selling you more CPU cores for less money, what AMD is now selling is substantially better graphics for less money,"

HP plans to launch NFC-enabled tablets this year

HP is now ready to produce phones and tablets with built-in near-field communication (NFC) technology for mobile payments, Bloomberg reported on June 13, 2011. Like Google Wallet, which will soon launch for the Nexus S and eventually other Android devices, HP hopes its customers will be able to use the company’s products to make mobile purchases available in retail outlets. HP plans to create an entire ecosystem where users will be able to to receive coupons or other benefits, such as loyalty points, from NFC-enabled advertisements. This will be a great news to all the HP consumers. While sources told Bloomberg the products could launch by year-end, HP hasn’t been known to deliver new mobile devices to the market very quickly in the past. It’s also still unclear who the company’s mobile payment partners will be.

HTC Flyer on May 22nd

Best Buy, which exclusively launched the WiFi-only Android tablet in the US, announced that May 22,2011, Sunday will be the official first day of availability for the Flyer, at a price of $500. HTC revealed the Flyer, (which also goes by “HTC EVO View 4G”, for some reason) at Mobile World Congress earlier this year. Slightly behind fellow tablets, the Flyer runs a souped-up, Sense-equipped version of Android 2.4, though HTC says that an upgrade to Android 3.0 Honeycomb is on its way as well.

This tablets have exciting features, one of which is its pressure-sensitive stylus that permits users to draw directly on the device’s screen. While the move back to stylus-based input has more than a few detractors, HTC seems to be strongly supporting the technology. Assuming the company and app developers can create an solid line of stylus-based applications, the Flyer may actually develop some traction.

You'll be able to purchase your Flyer online and at all brick-and-mortar Best Buy and Best Buy Mobile stores, but if mobile connectivity is more important to you, we'd advise holding out a little while longer for the 3G- and 4G-capable Evo View variety on Sprint.
